February District Committee Meeting will be held on February 22 (gathering at 7 PM; meeting starts at 7:30 PM) at Durham Lion's Club Scout facility (map). Minutes of previous meetings here.

February Roundtable – Thursday January 18 at Glendale UMC (map). Gathering 7:00 PM and meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

POSTPONED! The 2009 Mawat Awards Banquet has been postponed. Contact Ray Anderson for details.

2010 Pinewood Derby will be on 6 Feb 2010. Details posted.

The 2010 Cub-o-ree will take place April 23-25 at West Point on the Eno. Flier available.

Council will be chartering buses to go for a day to the 2010 National Jamboree. Adults and families welcome.

Looking to get some basic training under your belt? Then check out BSA’s online training at http://olc.scouting.org/. You can complete Youth Protection Training and the appropriate Leader Fast Start.

Mawat District Email - Join the Mawat email group and receive timely emails about upcoming events in the Mawat District as well as having access to the Mawat District Calendar. All you have to do is send an email.

The Mawat Calendar is located in the Yahoo Groups site. You must be a member of the group to have access to the calendar.

Scouts is turning 100 years. Take a look at National's activities and at Occoneechee's council. One of them will involve one Scout from each county presenting a report to the Governor.Details on page 6 of the 100 Years Program Guide.

There's a new award for the BSA Centennial: the 2010 Awards Patch. Pack 451 has captured the essence of at their site.

PVSA – Presidential Volunteer Service Award – is available to youth and adults for their volunteer service in Scouting and in other areas.  Also, Good Turn for America provides volunteering and recognition opportunities.
