Friends of Scouting is the annual campaign where the Occoneechee Council asks Scouting families, businesses and civic-minded citizens to support our mission of providing the Scouting program to tens of thousands of young people in our Council.
Why should I give to Friends of Scouting?
Friends of Scouting provides roughly one third of the money needed to operate the Occoneechee Council's Scouting camps, programs and facilities for a calendar year. These camping and training facilities are the "outdoor classrooms" in which Scouts have fun, learn leadership skills and develop into better young men and women. The Council spends approximately $250 per Scout each year to deliver these benefits and much more.
How do I give to Friends of Scouting?
You can donate online. Many units will schedule a time for someone to present information about the program, collect pledges, and answer any questions that you might have.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
For questions, or to schedule a presentation for your unit, please contact
. See the contacts page for more details.

Call for Volunteers
Volunteers are the SINGLE GREATEST RESOURCE of the Boy Scouts of America!
Scouts deserve the best possible experience in Scouting. The District Committee provides support to all Scouting Units and is essential to the success of the individual programs!
District Volunteers - We have a lot of important work on our plate at the District level and we need your help . . . either in serving District Committees or serving as Unit Commissioners. The scope of our needs is varied . . . we have seasonal needs (like Friends of Scouting), we have openings for Unit Commissioners (regular unit contact, serving closer to the Scouts), and we have work that can be managed at monthly District meetings.
